The New Deal

In the Middle Ages, Abbas bin Al-Khayata, a thief of Basra, became very famous. His actions had caused great fear in the hearts of rich people in Basra and its surroundings for a long time. Arrested as a result of the usual negligence, he was kept in Basra jail in such a way that he was chained in shackles weighing 50 kg around the clock. After the arrest of Abbas, there was peace in Basra for some time, but one day a big incident happened in the provincial city of Ella, in which millions of jewels were stolen from the house of a famous merchant of the city. The house of the affected merchant was no less than a fortress. The incident was unimaginable, the result is that the entire Chamber of Commerce of Basra collapsed, the affected businessman held a meeting with all the traders in Basra and announced the next day that the ruler of Basra was behind the incident that happened at his house. Otherwise, it is not possible that a common thief can commit a big crime without any government patronage.

This tactic was successful, the ruler of the city prohibited the life of the kotwal of the city and his subordinates and ordered to arrest the thief in any way possible and recover the property. The police failed to solve the case despite their best efforts and when the Kotwal expressed his failure in front of the ruler, he became enraged and announced that if the Kotwal failed to recover the stolen property for another month, his head would be hanged. Finding his life in such danger, he went straight to the jail and there he started serving Abbas bin Al-Khayata morning and evening. On the fourth week, Abbas asked him, “The service is over, now tell me the purpose?” He explained the whole story and said, “My life is in danger, help me solve this case and just tell me who are the thieves in this area who are capable of committing such a big crime?” Abbas smiled and said:

“Honourous and principled people do not reveal the name of their friends,” He raised his shirt and took out the stolen jewels and placed them in his hand, saying, “Because of your service, your right has become obligatory on me.” And Honourous and principled people do not leave anyone’s rights to themselves. Take these jewels, escape from Basra and live in luxury for the rest of your life.”

The Rular of City handed over the property to its owner and the next day summoned Abbas from prison to his house to remove his shackles, bathe him, dress him in high-class clothes and feed him the best food and drink of various kinds throughout the day. At night, he put him to sleep in his own luxurious bedroom. When the next day dawned, he called him and said, “I know that even if I give you a hundred thousand lashes, I will not be able to open your mouth, but I have made you my personal guest. I promise I will forgive your punishment and consider yourself released from prison immediately, just please tell me how you did this while you were in prison?”

Abbas smiled and said, “This matter is a bit complicated. For this, a formal “deal” would have to be made in which my colleagues would also be protected.” The ruler agreed, and so a “National Reconciliation Ordinance” according to today’s parlance between the thief and the ruler of Basra. The lines started to settle, according to the deal, Abbas stipulated that he and his accomplices would be forgiven for all past crimes and that no account of past thefts would be taken from him, while the ruler stipulated that he and His companions will repent and guarantee that they will not commit any theft in the future. Abbas and Rular of City agreed to each other’s terms. He also promised to uphold the “Deal” and took an oath, so as soon as the “Reconciliation Ordinance” was issued, Abbas told the whole story of his last theft, how he gave the jailer 1,000 goldan coins as a bribe. He left the prison at nightfall and how, after disrupting the security system of this fort, he stole the jewels that night and returned to the prison before sunrise as promised. fixed a stipend so that all his needs continued to be met while Abbas and his group continued to abide by the “deal” for life and thus the people of Basra were freed from theft forever.

Since those people of old times were not developed but were completely “stereotyped”, their thieves were also “posh” according to the overall mood of the society. He used to talk about honor and used to spend his whole life in keeping promises. We are today’s people, very developed, so those “myths” of the old times are not found in us, but in one issue we are also equal to the people of Basra. Like the people of Basra, we also have cases of theft which are impossible to prove. My allusion is not to those fools who order TT gun of 12000 Pak Rupee from the black market and on the strength of it, steal millions from the house of a rich person or, in case of a big incident, rob Ten or Twenty Million from a bank and this state of expertise. It happens that the very next day the police officer is loudly announcing that “we are very close to the accused” and the next day the police are killed in the encounter or arrested and put behind bars.

My point is towards those who are respectable or honorable even before the incident, their position is the same during the incident, and after the incident, there is no one more “oppressed” on the planet than them. They look into our houses through the window of television and complain that if we are thieves, why has it not been proven in ten years? The court which issued the permanent warrant also acquits them in these cases and these people are released for new crimes in front of the nation. She has only one necklace worth more than ten million pounds, Her Husband’s horses have not thousands but millions of rupees worth of food, which is not even imagined by the common citizen of today, even by Mughal Empror Jalaluddin Akbar of the past. What will happen, if they want to eat okra, special planes of PIA fly up in the air to deliver only one kilo of okra abroad, their car is bullet proof and heart is shame proof. Some such believers also came to our luck that when they got back the looted money from the abroad, they made a so-called spiritual trust of the same value in their name. Let’s talk about the Tosha Khana,( Tosha Khana where foreign rulers give gifts to our rulers during official visits which legally belong to the state”), it was used by everyone as it was a confectionary shop of Grandfather. As I mention earlier that all of their vehicles are bullet proof and their conciouse are shame proof. Even today, social media occasionally floats the news that another surprise deal is expected soon, and the only reason for publishing this news is to instill fear in the incumbents into keeping the agreements they have made.

The former oppressive ruler of this country and corrupt and traitor commando Pervez Musharraf had announced a “reconciliation ordinance” Which was definitely the result of a “deal”, this ordinance consists of five pages and despite the effort, no provision could be found on each page of the meaning that Musharraf, like the ruler of Basra, protected the citizens from theft for the future. It has been encouraged and neither Abbas bin Al-Khayyat of the time is seen in such a mood that it can be believed that they have repented from committing crimes in the future, so what can be said except that the people of Basra are better than us.

I wish we were blessed with the reconciliation ordinance of the ruler of Basra? Where the Supreme Court could not harm the originator of this ordinance and those who benefit from it, whose door will the poor hungry naked people knock in despair.
